Garrett Lestingi is an accomplished Senior Software Engineer with over 8 years of experience in the industry. Prior to his current role, Garrett worked at Goldman Sachs as a Vice President and Associate. During his time at Goldman Sachs, he played a key role in the development of the company's standardized platform communication between applications by putting Kafka in front of their event bus to provide data separation and application/data decoupling. He also horizontally scaled their concurrency engine by taking advantage of Akka clustering to allow for higher throughput and availability. Garrett worked on new features for their concurrency engine, including a full-stack way to remove pending events from the queue, and also fixed bugs in their platform's concurrency engine, including a bug in their ability to recreate state on restart and a bug with using RxJava's non-serial emitter. He designed and implemented a 24/7 uptime solution by leveraging Akka Cluster Singletons to allow their platform to support consumer-facing technology. Garrett graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science in 2014.
