Garth Fritz is a Principal Software Engineer with over 9 years of relevant experience in the industry. Currently working at cardlytics as a Senior Software Engineer, Garth specializes in full-stack development with .NET Core, with a particular interest in F# and the SAFE Stack. He also contributes to F# related projects on the side whenever possible. Garth's passion for functional programming is evident in his work and his efforts to promote it within his team. He shamelessly plugs functional programming and F# in his monthly talks, which he facilitates as part of the Engineering Lightning Talks initiative he launched in May 2018. These talks are aimed at helping fellow engineers share knowledge and build presentation skills. Garth's technical expertise includes software engineering, SQL, and integration. His past experience includes working at cardlytics as a Software Engineer III and Software Engineer II. During this time, he worked with C#, F#, SQL Server, .NET Core, and .NET Standard whenever possible, gaining valuable experience in these technologies. Garth holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science from the University of Vermont, which he completed in 2013. His interests outside of work include LAN parties and RTS games, cryptography, and exploring the potential of F# and functional programming. Garth is committed to doing more F# than C# because he believes F# is better and compiles down to MSIL anyway.
