Gaurav Agarwal is an experienced Software Engineer with over 17 years of relevant experience in the field. He has a strong background in applied distributed systems, time-series stores, mathematical optimization, search, and information retrieval. Currently, Gaurav is working as a Software Engineer at spotnana, where he is responsible for developing and implementing software solutions to meet the company's business needs. Prior to spotnana, Gaurav worked as a Staff Software Engineer at Google, where he was responsible for camera cloud-infrastructure for Google Nest cameras and business shopping ads-infrastructure and machine learning models. He was also a part of the founding engineering team at Arkin Net, which was later acquired by VMWare. At Arkin Net, Gaurav led the infrastructure, metrics-store, configuration store, and flow processing groups in the Network Insight business unit at VMWare. Gaurav has a strong educational background, having completed his Master of Science in Computer Science (Algorithms) from the University of Southern California and his Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from B.M.S. College of Engineering. He also attended La Martinere College. Gaurav has a diverse tech stack, including expertise in Postgres, HDFS, Elastic Search, Kafka, and more. He is a senior software engineer with extensive experience in information retrieval, infra, and search. Throughout his career, Gaurav has designed and implemented multiple key infrastructure components, stores, and caching layers. He has also modeled and migrated vRNI configuration time-series store to FoundationDB, implemented novel techniques to handle conflict management, data consistency, secondary indexes, bulk selections, data-expiry, atomic multi-transaction operations, read/write hotspot avoidance for sequentially located read/writes, etc. Gaurav is a mentor and actively mentored over 10 team members and transitioned many of these systems over to them as the team grew from a startup to over 150-member engineering team.
