Gaurav Chopra is a strategic and growth-oriented Engineering Leader with over 17 years of experience in the IT industry. He is currently working at Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a Software Development Manager, leading the Data Platforms team and hiring developers. Gaurav is a dynamic leader who focuses on executing business initiatives and plans, and has a high success rate in accomplishing business objectives. He helps define system architecture and tactical solutions for delivery in the Enterprise Domain/Big Data Engineering. Gaurav has been working on Big Data technologies for the last three years and has designed solutions for Centralised Data Store e.g Operational Data on top of Azure and Google Cloud with cost & performance as major differentiators. He has built Data Strategies for better adoption of in-house data store and has a good understanding of Data Lake/Data warehouse and respective offerings by popular cloud vendors. Currently, he is involved in building a Data Platform (Operational Data Store) using Big Data Technologies like Kafka, Storm, Cassandra, Elastic Search, etc., which can serve the organization’s near real-time data needs by acting as a single source of truth. Gaurav has extensive experience in building Enterprise applications using Java programming language and frameworks like DynaTrace, Apache JMeter, Cucumber for Performance/functional testing. He has used Jenkins based pipelines for Continuous Integration and Deployment. He has also extensively used Microservices for building reliable Warehouse Management System and used Eventing based technologies for sub-system integration. Gaurav has worked with Walmart as a Senior Engineering Manager and designed a complete solution for building Operational Data Store (ODS) platform to host Walmart Supply Chain Data for Operational decision support and real-time reporting. He has also built Data Quality Framework for measuring quality of streaming data and designed Voice Solution for Picking, Receiving and Loading operations of Walmart Distribution Centres. He has managed a team of 15 Engineers and increased overall team’s productivity by more than 50%. Gaurav has a B.Tech degree in Computers from Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar (Pb), India and completed his 12th grade in Science from Dayanand Model Secondary School - Jalandhar (Pb), India.
