Gaurav Joshi is a dedicated software engineer with over 9 years of relevant experience in UI development. He firmly believes that an intuitive user interface is just as important as optimized core software logic. Currently, Gaurav is the Founding Software Engineer (UI) at StarTree, where he has established the StarTree UI Platform architecture with a proven long-term maintainability and scalability. He has also set up a UI release process and infrastructure that is decoupled from the backend and the StarTree product platform, enabling fast, iterative UI releases with a weekly cadence. Additionally, Gaurav has built an ecosystem of StarTree proprietary apps that add value on top of Apache Pinot. He has also established the StarTree UI team, comprising dedicated UI developers in the US and India. Prior to StarTree, Gaurav worked at AppDynamics as a Senior Software Engineer (UI) and Software Engineer II (UI), where he led the UI team and delivered the radical new AppDynamics Flexible Metadata Model that can easily adapt to changing application monitoring requirements. He also contributed to a massive engineering-wide exercise to improve scale and performance of AppDynamics product in 100 days. Gaurav has developed critical features requiring innovative visualizations and has been assigned as one of the code reviewers for a core repository shared across engineering to help promote constructive and collaborative review practices. He has coordinated UI performance testing efforts that helped improve end-to-end performance by over 50% and has successfully delivered critical feature requests from large customers at extremely short notice periods. Gaurav holds a Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science (Software Engineering major) from the University of Texas at Dallas, a Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Science from the University of Mumbai, and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Science from the University of Mumbai. He is proficient in UI development, software engineering, Javascript, Redux, backend, infra, ReactJS, test, and frontend.
