Gaurav Khare is an Engineering Team Director with over 12 years of experience in delivering complex systems in high-pressure environments. He has a proven track record of leading large cross-regional teams to build scalable, resilient, and highly available distributed systems. Currently, he is working at BlackRock as an Engineering Team Director, where he manages three scrum teams comprising 17 people building core functionalities on Aladdin Investment Compliance platform. He has groomed next-gen leaders to take the team forward and developed three such leaders, promoting them to engineering management roles. Gaurav has also established a cohesive team culture through knowledge sharing, small team projects, and celebration of each other’s success. At BlackRock, Gaurav led the initiative to redesign the core compliance architecture to achieve scale and performance to support 10x growth in Aladdin business in this decade. He architected the cache, storage, and transport layer for compliance to scale up 10x trading volume and to support APIs for compliance data retrieval to open up new avenues for revenue generation. He also designed and delivered the next-gen compliance reporting framework to provide current and historical compliance insights to compliance officers under 2 seconds response time. Prior to BlackRock, Gaurav worked as a Software Engineer at Calypso Technology and Fintrack Systems Inc. At Calypso Technology, he developed custom APIs for clients to interface with Calypso’s risk management platform and onboarded three clients on the platform, expanding the Calypso business. At Fintrack Systems Inc., he enhanced the company’s financial service provider trading platform, working under a high demanding startup environment. He also implemented a new order management system module for the IR Swap derivative market. Gaurav holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the University at Buffalo and a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Information Technology from Shri G S Institute of Technology and Sciences. He has a strong technical background and is skilled in Java, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, AWS, CI/CD, Microservices, SQL, Apache Hive, Ansible, Kubernetes, Data Warehouse, Big Data, and more.
