Gaurav Ramesh is a Senior Software Engineer at OpenTable, where he works on the restaurant side of the business, building systems that facilitate optimal communication between the frontend and backend applications. He leads projects that impact and improve their product offering for the restaurants. His role involves working on some of the most business-critical services, including an in-house API gateway, sync services, and core reservation and inventory management systems. Gaurav also works with the Platform Architecture team on things that facilitate a smoother transition towards modernization of their backend systems. He builds streamlined CI/CD pipelines, migrates applications from Singularity/Mesos to Kubernetes, and designs better monitoring strategies for optics into the health of their systems. Gaurav has over 8.86 years of relevant experience in the software engineering field. He has previously worked as a Software Engineer at OpenTable and PayPal. At OpenTable, he worked in the Consumer Growth team as a full-stack engineer building and optimizing APIs for the most high-traffic pages on the web platform. He also worked on improving the developer experience through optimization of the build pipelines, reducing the size of Docker images, tech stack upgrades, performance audit, and logging and monitoring of the health of the apps. He has also developed tools to automate things, fiddled with webpack configurations to speed up and optimize app build times, and added end-to-end testing for the frontend apps(with Cypress). Gaurav has a Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Computer Science from Jawaharlal Nehru National College of Engineering.
