Gaurav Singh Tomar is a Senior Research and Machine Intelligence Engineer at Google AI. He is a part of the Language team, which is one of the world's leading language understanding research teams. Gaurav's work primarily focuses on learning semantic representations of language, with a particular emphasis on problems such as paraphrase identification, cross-lingual methods, and dialog generation. Gaurav completed his Master's Degree in Computer Science from the Language Technologies Institute, School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University in 2016. During his time at CMU, Gaurav's research interests were in connections between Online learning, Discourse analysis, Conversational agents, Intelligent tutoring systems, Computer-supported collaborative learning, Dialogue systems, and Recommendation systems. Before joining CMU, Gaurav worked as a Senior Software Developer at D.E. Shaw & Co. in the Compliance Development Group. He was responsible for developing applications for regulatory reporting across various trading countries to ensure the firm's trading was in compliance with the rules laid by the regulatory bodies of these countries. He also developed automated solutions for a variety of Systemic Risk Filings to be done by Hedge funds. Gaurav completed his undergraduate degree as a Gold Medalist of his class at the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad. He has over 10 years of relevant experience and possesses a strong skill set in Research Scientist, Recommendation system, AI, Deep Learning, and Software Engineering. Gaurav's academic and professional background has equipped him with the skills and knowledge to excel in his current role at Google AI. He is a talented engineer who is passionate about using cutting-edge technologies to solve complex problems. With his expertise in language understanding and deep learning, Gaurav is a valuable asset to the Language team at Google Brain.
