Gazal Garg is a highly experienced engineering head with a passion for fintech and building secure, scalable, and resilient banking platforms. Currently, he is a founding team member at Upswing, where he is leading the development of an API platform for open banking. With almost a decade of relevant experience, Gazal has a proven track record of delivering results and building high-performing tech teams. Prior to joining Upswing, Gazal served as the Head of Engineering at Zilingo, where he led a team of 30+ engineers and was responsible for the engineering efforts on Zilingo's B2C and B2B marketplace and sourcing business. He played a critical role in building and scaling many of the core backend systems, including product discovery, inventory and transaction systems, payments, order management systems, and fintech. Gazal also oversaw the scaling up of the engineering organization to 60+ people over the years. He was instrumental in leading the DevOps function and setting a strong culture of ownership across the team. Gazal's educational background includes a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and an intermediate degree in Science from St. Paul's School. His tech stack includes senior software engineering, DevOps, and backend development. In his current role at Upswing, Gazal is excited about the future of fintech and the engineering challenges that come with building a secure, scalable, and resilient banking as a service platform for open banking.
