Geng Li is a Staff Software Engineer with over 10 years of experience in the field of Machine Learning. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Bachelor of Engineering (Advanced Class) in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Geng is passionate about building and scaling high-performance ML systems to deliver learnable results in a swift way. He enjoys building Machine Learning algorithms on big data and making ML infrastructure to support them. Currently, Geng works as a Software Engineer at Meta, where he is responsible for engineering Uber TL for App Navigation, In-APP Notifications and Product Growth with ML, Reels (Short Videos) Search and Chaining, and Hashtag Interest Deepdive. Prior to his current role, Geng worked as a Software Engineer at Apple, where he built search in Siri Assistant, Safari, Spotlight on both mobile and desktop platforms. He served as a Tech Lead, driving key project initiatives, serving as an annual goal and milestones maker, system/ranking architecture designer, search system components implementor, and serving as a coordinator/driver for various teams collaboration inside Siri and other teams inside Apple. Geng has also worked as a Software Engineer at Yahoo, where he improved search result relevancy in Yahoo's Search Federation System. He designed and implemented new machine learning model training pipelines on Hadoop grid, for triggering and ranking of vertical content on the Yahoo Search Page. The model data pipeline is scalable to billions of queries every day. The online performance metrics like Click Through Rate (CTR) has been improved by over 30% and Coverage has been improved by over 10%.
