Geppy Parziale is a seasoned Sr. Principal ML Engineer at Apple with over 20 years of experience in R&D projects related to machine learning, deep learning, artificial neural network, image processing, computer vision, remote sensing, pattern recognition, motion tracking, motion detection, fingerprint recognition, face recognition, photogrammetry, and optical metrology. He has worked at different abstraction layers ranging from low-level IC hardware design to high-level implementation of user interfaces for mobile and desktop applications. Geppy has extensive experience in developing smart applications based on computer vision and machine learning for iOS, tvOS, and macOS. He has managed small and large R&D teams of up to 50 people and is known for his exceptional problem-solving skills and product design acumen. He is adept at evaluating risks, time, resources, and costs and has a great attention to detail, always prioritizing solutions that provide the best and most convenient results for users and customers. Apart from his work at Apple, Geppy is also a skilled trainer and has trained more than 6000 engineers worldwide for small and large enterprises on iOS development in Swift and Objective-C. He has contributed to different large-scale research projects supported by the European Commission, ESA, FBI, and DOD and is a member of several international standard committees. He has also written patents and publications in multiple scientific journals and magazines. He has also developed different application prototypes for video interactions based on Metal, SceneKit, ARKit, Vision, CoreML, Depth Data, and the new video format HEVC. Geppy has optimized image processing algorithms and Metal shaders running on the iPhone GPUs using Instruments. Geppy's past experience includes working as a Sr. iOS and Computer Vision Engineer at Skycatch, where he designed and developed iOS applications to control DJI drones for landscape surveying. He optimized an algorithm to compute the optimal drone routes to map a given geographical area using Metal, Metal Compute Shaders, Accelerate, SceneKit, and AVFoundation. He has also worked as a Sr. iOS Swift and Objective-C Trainer at PayPal, where he trained more than 600 engineers on basic and advanced topics related to the design and development
