Giacomo Taylor is a highly skilled Software Engineer with over 3 years of experience in the field. He is currently working at Zoox as a Perception SWE where he is responsible for Radar & Safety. His work involves developing and implementing cutting-edge technologies to improve the safety and perception of autonomous vehicles. Prior to joining Zoox, Giacomo worked at Verb Surgical Inc. as a Research Software Engineer. He was part of the Applied Research team where he developed novel augmented and virtual reality visualization concepts for a next-generation digital surgery platform. His work involved developing and validating robust AR/VR systems to enable professional guidance and education. He worked closely with large multidisciplinary teams, surgeons and OR staff to design, implement, and test solutions in a clinical setting. Giacomo also has experience working as a Software Development Intern at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Here he interned with the Neurosurgery Simulation Core research group where he developed prototype augmented reality solutions for ventriculostomy procedures. He used Google Tango API to enable real-time 3D visual overlay of target anatomy and path planning, as well as preemptive trajectory error detection and warning. Giacomo has a Master of Science in Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University, where he majored in Computer Science. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics & Statistics from the same institution. He completed his High School education at Trinity School, NYC.
