Gordon Skinner is a highly experienced Chief Technology Officer (CTO) with over 18 years of relevant experience in the technology industry. He is currently working as the CTO at FutureFarm, where he is responsible for driving the company's technology strategy and overseeing the development of innovative solutions that help farmers maximize their yields. Prior to joining FutureFarm, Gordon served as the CTO at Hummingbird Technologies Ltd, where he played a key role in building one of the most sophisticated precision farming tools on the market. He led a cross-functional team of 15 engineers and worked closely with a nearshore team in Ukraine to build the company's administrative portal. He also introduced a microservices-based design and utilized Python across the ingestion and processing layers, as well as building the API in PHP and using React for the interfaces. Gordon's leadership helped the team to maintain quality while meeting tight deadlines and managing technical debt. Gordon also worked as the CTO at ReChannel Ltd, where he oversaw the re-architecturing of the platform from a hastily built prototype to a scalable functional architecture. He introduced Agile to the team and based it on Scrum, which was constantly evaluated to best suit the working practices of the team as it evolved. He also managed the prioritization and direction of the product, working closely with the development team, the account management team, and the directors. Gordon's expertise in domain-driven design and hexagonal architecture earned him a speaking opportunity at PHPUK, the largest PHP Conference in the UK. Gordon's education history includes attending Largs Academy from 1992 to 1998. He has a diverse tech stack that includes Senior Software Engineer, PHP, MySQL, Frontend, ML, Elastic Search, Microservices, DevOps, infra, Python, MongoDB, Integration, and AngularJS.
