Gunjan Juyal is a highly experienced software engineer with over 14 years of expertise in Data Engineering, Distributed Systems, and Agile and Lean methods for creating innovative products. Currently working as a Staff Software Engineer at Google, Gunjan is leading a team to accelerate Cloud Spanner database adoption through OSS compatibility and enhanced enterprise features. Cloud Spanner is a planet-scale, enterprise-grade, strongly-consistent database service that combines the richness and familiarity of Relational databases with non-relational horizontal scale. Gunjan has built teams, infrastructures, and cultures at startups and managed scale and tech transformations in large enterprises. She was among the first 10 employees at Zeta, now a unicorn, where she led all things "Data" and built a unified, distributed, fault-tolerant pipeline using Amazon Kinesis, Java; DWH and Reporting over Postgres, Bucardo, Pentaho; Search over Elasticsearch (7TB+); Event-store over HBase, Spark, Hive, Apache Zeppelin. Gunjan also worked with xnsio (formerly known as agilefaqs) as a Senior Software Consultant, where she led multiple projects covering infra design and development, coaching, and product development.
