Gursharan Ahir is a highly skilled Software Engineer currently working as an Intern at Google. He holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Science and Engineering from UC San Diego and a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering from IIT Kharagpur. Gursharan is proficient in C/C++ and Python and is highly interested in the applications of deep learning techniques to solve computer vision problems. Gursharan is a curious learner who is always looking for opportunities to experiment, work and improve in new domains. He is highly interested in Machine Learning and Computer Vision, Algorithms, and Software Design. He has experience working with various technologies such as MongoDB, Javascript, and Deep Learning. Gursharan has worked as a Student Programmer at UC San Diego, where he developed the napari plugin of Jun lab's deep-learning based image analysis software. He has also worked as a Software Engineer at Microsoft, where he developed the next generation of embedded software for the micro-controller integrated in Microsoft Surface products. He has added functionalities in the application layer of the firmware to enable Windows' critical features like configuring wake alarm for task scheduler application, and settling into different power states like hibernate and sleep. He has also enabled interaction between different subsystems of the application layer through a publish-subscribe (pub/sub) pattern. Gursharan has also participated in various hackathons, where he has developed applications such as "Green Cart" using the MERN stack, which recommends the quantity of food items to be bought by a user with the aim of reducing food wastage. He has also developed a python console application in a team of three to parse and edit XML files through a user-friendly interface. Gursharan is a highly motivated individual with relevant experience of 1.36 years in the field of Software Engineering, Computer Vision, and Deep Learning. He is always looking for collaborative ideas and interesting opportunities to work on.
