Guru Bhat is a passionate technologist with over 26 years of experience gained from working in some of the world's most amazing companies. Currently, Guru serves as the Sr. Director of Engineering for the Android team at Google, where he helps his teams fulfill their mission to bring computing superpowers to all humanity. Android is the world's largest technology ecosystem with over 3 billion devices running the Android OS. Before joining Google, Guru was the VP of Customer Success Platforms for PayPal, responsible for Product Management and Engineering for all technology delivering customer success. He was also the General Manager of PayPal's India Centers (7000+ employees) in Bangalore, Chennai, and Hyderabad. Previous experiences at PayPal include leading various platform engineering teams that power Merchant Data Products, Dispute Resolution Experiences, Transaction Orchestration, and Planning. Guru has significant experience building highly secure, reliable, near-Realtime intelligent distributed systems that operate at the bleeding edge of scale. He has general management experience with all aspects of establishing and maturing an R&D Center in India. He is an expert in all aspects of building, growing, and efficiently operating an agile offshore product development organization from the ground up. Guru has leadership experience involving geographically dispersed and cross-functional product teams in the US, Canada, Sweden, Germany, Hungary, China, Singapore, UK, and India. Guru is a strong team builder and coach, skilled at inspiring confidence, leading by example, and managing high-performance teams committed to customer obsession that translates to customer success. He holds an MS in Computer Science from the State University of New York and a B.E. in Computer Science from the University of Mysore. Guru's tech stack includes Senior Software Engineer, Android, AI, ML, and product manager.
