Gurunath Parasaram is an experienced engineer with a keen interest in Machine Learning, particularly in Natural Language Processing. He has worked as an ML+NLP Engineer at Zoho, where he gained expertise in machine learning, software development, exploratory data analysis, and training deep learning models. Gurunath is currently pursuing an MSCS degree at the University of Utah and is looking to work on NLP/ML-related projects. Gurunath's technical skills include Python, Bash, PyTorch, Numpy, ONNX-Runtime, Huggingface Transformers, DVC, Streamlit, Git, SpaCy, NLTK, AllenNLP, Java, HTML, CSS, and SQL. He is proficient in training and fine-tuning deep learning models for NLP and deploying them in production using acceleration frameworks. Gurunath has also worked on improving throughput and reducing latency for the API, thereby saving costs by extracting maximum from existing compute. At Zoho, Gurunath's responsibilities as a Machine Learning Engineer included identifying bottlenecks in the end-to-end machine learning pipeline and taking measures to mitigate them periodically. He also analyzed user feedback for their micro-service and took measures to improve KPIs. Gurunath was involved in discussions with product teams regarding the product cycle roadmap and API. As a senior engineer, he led two junior engineers and mentored three interns. Gurunath has also worked as a Machine Learning Intern at Zoho, where he learned about basics and implemented machine learning models like LSTM, CNN for text-classification. He has also worked as a Summer Research Intern at the International Institute of Information Technology, where he learned, implemented, and evaluated baseline models for Automatic Speech Recognition(ASR) system using statistical and neural network models and performed experiments on feature extraction. Gurunath holds a Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from KL University and a High School degree in Intermediate(MPC) from Sri Mega Study Circle. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Utah.
