Hamel Kothari is a Co-founder and CTO at Brigit, a financial health platform that aims to help everyday Americans relieve stress today, start saving for tomorrow, and permanently transform their financial futures. Hamel is passionate about building a better financial world for the people who need it the most. With over 13 years of relevant experience, Hamel has a diverse background in software engineering, research science, and architecture. Prior to co-founding Brigit, Hamel worked at Two Sigma as a Software Engineer and Engineering Manager, where he managed a small team building research tools. He focused on delivering incremental value by running tightly scoped 4-month projects with rapid iteration and constant customer feedback. His solutions varied from big data analysis tools to workflow automation tools and aimed to increase efficiency in the research process. He also invested significantly in improving their in-house Spark infrastructure and performed architecture review for projects across his engineering group. Before Two Sigma, Hamel was a Senior Software Engineer at Bloomberg LP, where he helped architect and develop a new Spark Infrastructure platform for real-time analytics backing the Bloomberg Terminal. He sourced data from various open source and proprietary data and streaming sources and contributed to the Spark HBase connector. Hamel holds a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley. His tech stack includes Senior Software Engineer, Spark, Research Scientist, Software Engineer, infra, Python, Big Data, Scala, Java, and Spring. At Brigit, Hamel is responsible for leading the technology team and driving the company's technology strategy. He is passionate about using technology to protect hardworking Americans who live paycheck to paycheck from predatory financial services and empowering them with tools and financial products to save them money and bring them much-needed stability.
