Hans Leuthold is a highly experienced Sr Technologist at Joby Aviation, with over 37 years of expertise in solving complex problems related to the design, application, and manufacturing of spindle motors. He has a strong background in simulation, utilizing Rayleigh-Ritz, Euler-Lagrange, and spectral methods to analyze electro-magnetics of the motor, fluid dynamics of non-contact bearings, rolling contact mechanics of bearings, dynamics of spinning bodies, surface velocity, and acoustic transmission. Throughout his career, Hans has developed design tools and software that distribute knowledge in the workplace, and has authored and co-authored over 60 patents. He is currently working on particle transport problems in air flow, conducting analytical work and underpinning with Fluent. Hans has held various leadership positions in his career, including Executive Director of the spindle motor R&D group at Seagate. He has also worked as a Principal Technologist at Seagate, where he spent over 20 years solving problems related to spindle motors. Hans holds a Skills Certificate in Cyber Security from Cabrillo College, where he studied from 2017 to 2019, and has also studied at Gymer Langetu.
