Hari Prasad Sampath is the Business Head - InsurTech at Flipkart, where he chartered the Insurance business unit with the vision of creating a sustainable and profitable revenue pool for the company leveraging eCom data, its distribution might, and tech capabilities. He has led the overall Insurance BU strategy and full P&L ownership for the group, creating the 3-year strategy and roadmap/P&L view for the group, including finalizing Corporate Agent as Target Operating Model. He has scaled the BU from zero revenue to a $XX Mil business with a healthy bottom-line and led India’s first-of-its-kind “insurer backed” complete device protection programs. Hari has created insurance as a separate listing category on Flipkart app for out-of-flow/standalone insurance product sales and launched the first-ever standalone insurance product - Aegon Term Life. Hari has also led all strategic partnerships and business development efforts with leading insurers and reinsurance companies for the group, including potential JV explorations with a leading global insurance company. He has set the stage for launching Motor insurance with Bajaj Allianz General Insurance and other insurance products in the FY20-21 roadmap with the short-listed partners, including leading data-driven pricing strategy, negotiations, product features, and pricing, etc. Prior to his current role, Hari was the Chief of Staff to the CTO at Flipkart, where he helped the CTO/Head of Engineering set up the operating rhythm and brought in the rigor for streamlining the group’s functioning. He also supported the CTO and senior engineering leadership in strategic planning and day-to-day operations of the group. Hari has set up and/or operationalized a few critical strategic programs for the company, resulting in savings of $XX millions. Hari has a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from the University of Mysore and over 22 years of relevant experience in senior software engineering, mobile, AI, and product management.
