He is currently serving as the Director of Engineering - Commercial Data Engineering & Insights at Amex. Harsha has extensive experience in designing and building SaaS-based consumer-facing, enterprise as well as backend infrastructure services at internet scale, in the cloud. He is a data leader with experience in building high-quality large-scale distributed systems handling petabyte-scale data, focusing on full-stack Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Data Science coupled with AI/ML. Harsha has the ability to sustain a strong culture of innovation and craftsmanship. He has experience in attracting, retaining, and developing top Full-stack Engineers, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and Engineering Managers. In his previous roles, Harsha has worked with Microsoft as a Principal Software Engineering Manager - Cloud + AI and with Genpact as an Assistant Vice President - Big Data Analytics Platform. At Genpact, he built a 35+ member core engineering team from the grounds up that includes Data Engineering, Analytics, Data Science, Product Management, and UI/UX. He conceptualized and built a SaaS-based cloud-agnostic Data Platform featuring data ingestion from various sources, data profiling, data quality, self-service data processing pipelines (streaming and batch) for various reporting, analytical, monitoring, and machine learning use cases. He also built a metadata management platform, a knowledge graph to discover data/metadata, systems to handle data lineage, data governance, recommendation systems, data visualization, query interfaces to fetch and play around the data within the platform. Harsha has completed his Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Mangalore University. He also holds a degree in Pre-University from Viveka Junior College.
