Harshit Prasad is a Senior Software Engineer with Blinkit, India's online grocery unicorn focusing on grocery delivery in 10 minutes. He is an avid programmer with a passion for code, design, and technology. With almost three years of relevant experience, Harshit is a hardcore technology enthusiast who aims to develop impactful software products and intelligent systems. Harshit has good knowledge and experience in e-commerce domain (tech & business) - search, visibility & product discovery, ads, data. He is a good team player, an excellent coordinator, a result-oriented personality, and has effective communication, organizational skills, and a wide range of technical skills. In his current role, Harshit works as a Senior Software Engineer - Search & Personalization with Blinkit's Search team. He is responsible for maintaining and building search infrastructure, improving search results and suggestions experience, and implementing data-driven solutions to provide personalization at the user level across all platforms. Harshit has worked on deprecating search suggestions driven by content on the web platform and implemented a new version of search suggestions, purely data-driven. He has also worked on experimenting performance tuning & load testing their AWS Opensearch cluster to reduce operational costs and improve search & indexing performance (read/write). Harshit has also migrated Django based REST service to a new micro-service in Golang. The main goal of the project was to migrate the REST service to the streaming service responsible for handling real-time events like inventory updates, prices, etc at the product level. This project was at the organizational level, which also involved migration to new centralized AWS Managed Streaming Kafka (MSK). Harshit is also a technical interviewer for consumer engineering to interview candidates for the company recruitment process for backend profiles. In his free time, Harshit loves to play badminton, travel, read, and workout. He is active on GitHub, Twitter, Stackoverflow, and his personal website where he shares his thoughts and blogs. Harshit holds a Bachelor of Technology in Electronics & Communication Engineering from the LNM Institute of Information Technology and completed his high school from the Central Board of Secondary Education.
