Harum Helmy is a highly skilled software developer with over 10 years of relevant experience. Currently, she is working as a Software Developer at Throneless Tech, which is a worker-owned tech cooperative that builds software for social justice-oriented clients. She is the first provisional member of the cooperative and is excited to be a part of it. Prior to her current role, Harum has worked with several organizations, including DC Abortion Fund (DCAF) and Rails-to-Trails Conservancy. At DCAF, she served as a Board Member and Co-Director of Case Management, where she oversaw a team of 40+ volunteers who annually returned 4,000+ calls from people seeking financial support to pay for their abortion procedures. She also directed DCAF's intake program and disbursed $300k+ in small grants to the callers. Harum is passionate about social justice and believes in donating to local abortion funds. At Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, Harum worked as a Research Assistant with the Trails Development team on a federal report studying rails-with-trails. She has extensive knowledge of the U.S.'s 340+ rails-with-trails and how many of them cross active railroad tracks at-grade. Harum holds a Full-Stack Web Development degree from Flatiron School and a BA in Anthropology and BJ in Convergence Journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She also has an MA in Journalism from the same university. Her tech stack includes Software Engineering, Ruby, and Research Scientist. Harum is a highly motivated and skilled professional who is dedicated to using her skills to make a positive impact on society.
