Hemendra S. is a research-oriented student with experience in leading, managing, and coordinating technical and administrative teams. He has a strong background in energy engineering, sustainability, and energy efficiency in the built environment, as well as a passion for amateur rocketry. Currently, Hemendra is working as a Visiting International Research Scholar at the Institute for Integrated Energy Systems, where he is assessing building energy flexibilities using surrogate modeling for his Bachelor's thesis. Previously, Hemendra worked as a Summer Research Intern at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where he worked on characterizing and optimizing novel e-fuel systems. He also served as the Director of Events for SEDS BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus, which is the first technical club of its kind on campus and aims to boost aerospace culture and awareness. Hemendra led the club's participation in competitions related to aerospace and avionics, such as Spaceport America Cup and CANSAT. He also focused on testing and studying various propulsion systems, materials, structures, and rocket mechanisms like thrust vectoring. Under his leadership, the club secured an overall position of 60th and 30th in the 10k COTS category at the SA Cup 2021 (held remotely) and received an honorable mention at the SDL Payload Challenge. Hemendra holds a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, and is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue University. He has relevant experience of 1.37 years and possesses a strong tech stack, including research scientist and test. Overall, Hemendra is a highly motivated and skilled individual with a passion for energy engineering and amateur rocketry.
