Herman Wong is a highly experienced Program Manager in the field of Emerging Technologies, currently working with Huawei Canada R&D. With over 10 years of relevant experience, he has a proven track record of success in managing complex projects and driving innovation in the tech industry. Herman's career began as a Photonics Support Engineer at CMC Microsystems, where he gained valuable experience in the field of photonics. He then went on to complete his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto, where he focused on nanophotonic devices for modulation and enhanced Raman spectroscopy. During his time at the university, Herman was an executive member of the OSA Student Chapter and taught several courses as a teaching assistant, including Fundamentals of Optics, Fields and Waves, Micro- and Nano-fabrication, Engineering Design Strategies and Practice. He also served as an instructor for the Da Vinci Engineering Enrichment Program (DEEP). After completing his Ph.D., Herman joined Huawei as a Program Manager, Emerging Technologies. In this role, he has been responsible for managing research and development projects related to emerging technologies, including 5G networks, AI, and IoT. He has demonstrated a strong ability to identify emerging trends and technologies and has successfully led cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions.
