Himanshu Gupta is an experienced and passionate Software Engineer with a strong business acumen. He graduated with a degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Currently, he is working as a Software Engineer at Robinhood, where he is responsible for developing and enhancing the platform's software. Himanshu has a demonstrated history of working in the internet industry, with more than 13 years of relevant experience. Prior to joining Robinhood, he worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Amazon, where he was part of the Alexa Local Search team. He helped Alexa answer queries like "Find me a restaurant nearby" and enhanced the Local Search service by adding support for attribute filtering. He also set up scalable Search Relevance infrastructure using serverless lambdas to measure nDCG scores for local search queries, which helped to quantify the search performance category-wise and focus on low-performing categories. Himanshu was also a Stanley award winner, an Amazon internal award, for his contribution to reducing fleet usage and fleet costs by a factor of 85% and reducing service latency by a factor of 30%. Apart from his corporate experience, Himanshu is also a Co-Founder and Tech Lead at Flashdoor, where he created an on-demand marketplace for household services. He led the team to develop front-end, back-end, and Android app, with constant inputs and ever-changing requirements from the business development team. He developed two different backend services, one on the Spring Framework, another on the Play Framework, and an Android app using Android SDK. He also developed technologies like time-sensitive cache, scheduler, and an algorithm to perfectly match delivery agents with the location of new orders. He set up a customer support team, including hiring and creating/sourcing CRM tools, and also handled digital marketing using Google and Facebook.
