Himanshu Shekhar is a highly skilled software engineer with a passion for building software that keeps him contented. With over 3 years of relevant experience, he has worked with cloud platforms, distributed systems, and data pipelines. Himanshu is proficient in several programming languages such as Scala, Java, Python, Golang, JavaScript, C, and C++. He is also familiar with technologies such as AWS, Docker, and Linux. Currently working as a Software Engineer at Trifacta, a cloud-based data-preparation platform for data engineers and analysts, Himanshu is part of the job-optimization team. He has been involved in the zero to one journey, working on optimizations such as column pruning, filter pushdown, and SQL pushdowns. He has also worked significantly on BigQuery pushdowns, making jobs run over 20 times faster than traditional map-reduce. Prior to his current role, Himanshu worked as a Software Consultant at Sumo Logic, a cloud-based machine data analytics platform. He was part of the data-collection team responsible for developing a highly available, multi-tenant distributed data-ingestion pipeline that ingests 300+ TB data every single day and can scale up to 4 PB/day. He worked on ingestion infra written in Scala/Java that runs on AWS, heavily utilizing tools such as S3, EC2, RPCs, SOA, zookeeper, Elasticcache, DynamoDB, ELB, among others. He also contributed to the beta-release of archive intelligence to ingest only the logs you query over, reducing costs for customers by more than 100x depending on use. Himanshu has a dual degree in Bachelors of Technology and Masters of Technology (specialization Robotics) from Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), where he graduated in 2020. He also holds an Intermediate degree in Mathematics from G. N. National Public School.
