Hirak Chatterjee is an experienced Engineering Manager at Swiggy with a passion for building solid products and effective, efficient teams. With over 12 years of relevant experience, Hirak has a Master's degree from BITS Pilani in Software Systems and a strong technical background as a hands-on full-stack engineer. At Swiggy, Hirak leads a full-stack engineering team with a charter to enable seamless onboarding of restaurants on the Swiggy platform and help them grow their business. He owns several web, mobile app, related services, and platforms that restaurant owners interact with to manage and grow their businesses. Prior to Swiggy, Hirak worked at PayPal as a Member Of Technical Staff, where he was responsible for re-architecting the merchant experience. His day-to-day work involved building a new delightful experience for PayPal merchants, leading the migration of the merchant experience to NodeJS stack, conducting Agile ceremonies, acting as a scrum master, managing releases, and improving development workflow. He also mentored junior engineers and helped them grow while evangelizing best practices and cutting-edge technologies in front-end development within the organization. Before PayPal, Hirak worked at Verizon as a Principal Engineer, where he introduced ReactJS as the de facto front-end technology for all new developments. He built state-of-the-art data visualization front-end frameworks for large and complex data sets using ReactJS and D3. He also mentored and coached junior engineers while evangelizing best practices and cutting-edge technologies in front-end development within the organization.
