Hong Burt is a highly experienced Sr. Software QA Engineer with over 25 years of relevant experience in the industry. He holds an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering and is accountable for the successful lead and completion of all QA deliverables associated with assigned projects. Hong is an effective team player, both as a participant and as a leader, and actively contributes to the team effort to maintain the vision and direction of the quality assurance team, providing creative and practical solutions to meet business goals. Hong is proficient in automating all the projects assigned using TestNG/Java or Cucumber/Ruby and performing REST API Testing, web services, interface usability, functionality, data integrity, regression, migration, and cross-project integration testing. He creates test plans, test scripts, and project plans based on the analysis of technical specifications and documents, tracks, and communicates test results and analysis of unresolved problems. Hong is efficient and effective in communicating the status of assigned tasks with various individuals and teams, including developers/engineers and management. Hong is experienced in identifying, analyzing, and documenting defects, questionable functions, errors, and inconsistencies, debugging and troubleshooting issues, and identifying variances from standards and suggesting modifications to conform. He has experience testing web applications using manual and automated test methodologies and has tested with multiple versions of Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari under different OS: Window, Mac, and Linux. Currently, Hong is working at Hulu as a Sr. Software QA Engineer, where he creates and maintains automation frameworks using Java/Selenium/TestNG for mixed API and UI testing, creates pageObject/libraries using Ruby/Selenium for UI testing, and creates and maintains automation frameworks using Java/TestNG for REST API testing. He is also responsible for setting up Jenkins for daily automation runs, manual testing for new features, and automating test cases if applicable for both UI and API. Hong has previously worked at Beachbody and Fandango as a Sr. Software engineer in test and Sr. Software QA Engineer, respectively. He has experience in using Waterfall and Agile/Scrum environments and is self-directed, flexible, and highly motivated. Hong has a strong educational background, having completed his MS from the University of Waterloo and his BS from the University of Science and Technology Beijing.
