Hossein Sharif is an accomplished professional with over 13 years of experience in the field of blockchain, cryptocurrencies, and fintech. He is currently the Head of Blockchain Cryptocurrencies and FinTech (BCF) Research Group at Newcastle Business School, where he leads a multi-disciplinary team of academics, consultants, and developers. Hossein's team works with a wide network of local and international industry players and public sector organizations on various projects, including pioneering applied research, industry projects involving design, implementation, and execution, consultancy and advisory services, and executive education and training. Prior to his current role, Hossein worked as a Senior Lecturer in Digital Business at Northumbria University, where he was responsible for module leadership for the Digital Business module, lecturing for the Research Methods module and Business Intelligence module, and supervising undergraduate, Masters, DBA, and PhD students. He was also the Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board at Iran Blockchain Labs, the country's first and largest blockchain research and innovation center established jointly by the Central Bank of Iran and Sharif University of Technology. Hossein holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Manchester, a Postgraduate Certificate of Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (PgCLTHE) from the University of Portsmouth, and a Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science (BEng) from the University of Liverpool. He also completed an EMBA in Oxford Fintech Programme from the University of Oxford. Hossein's tech stack includes experience as a Research Scientist and expertise in blockchain. He is a Fellow of the British Computer Society (FBCS) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Hossein is a highly motivated, results-driven individual with excellent leadership skills and a passion for innovation and technology.
