Hugh Ferguson is a multi-talented Developer, Designer, and Artist with a diverse skill set that includes software engineering, design, and project management. He is currently employed at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance as a Software Engineer, where he is responsible for the docker/CircleCi/AWS devops pipeline, including monorepo refactor and dockerized integration testing. He has added ecommerce and marketing features in Vue + Nuxt JS frontend w/ golang microservices. He has also led dev improvements such as optimized site generation, build refactors to reduce deploy errors, and automatic QA-able preview environments. Prior to joining Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, Hugh worked at Wolters Kluwer as an Associate Software Engineer. Here he contributed fullstack features + architecture of UpToDate.com webapp (Angular/Java) through bug fixes, code refactors, unit testing, PLSQL procedure updates, and RESTful feature implementation. He also worked on a student project called Operation Space, where he served as a Web Dev and Business Team member. The project involved building a rocket with the goal of crossing the Karman line, becoming the first student group to reach outer space. This project was featured on the front page of the WSJ. Hugh holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Economics from Northeastern University, where he graduated in December 2021. He also attended Ward Melville Senior High School, where he completed his high school education in 2017. Hugh has a diverse tech stack that includes Software Engineering, Design, AWS, Test, QA, Docker, Microservices, DevOps, Integration, Frontend, Golang, Web, Java, and AngularJS. He has 1.78 years of relevant experience, and his skills and experience make him a valuable asset to any organization.
