Indrajit Kalita is a Research Associate at the CYENS Centre of Excellence in Nicosia, Cyprus, and a Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in IIIT Guwahati. He is a doctoral student at IIT Guwahati, with a keen interest in deep learning, pattern recognition, remote sensing, and computer vision. Indrajit has 1.78 years of relevant experience, and his expertise includes research science, computer vision, deep learning, machine learning, neural networks, and mobile development. Indrajit has worked on several projects during his career, including his doctoral thesis, which focuses on domain adaptation in machine learning. He is exploring the problem of exploring unknown domains with abundant knowledge from a different domain using aerial images collected over different geographical regions. He is working on developing deep neural network-based techniques to solve this problem in land-cover classification and agriculture monitoring. Previously, Indrajit worked as an Assistant Project Engineer at the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, where he developed Text to Speech synthesis systems in Assamese and Manipuri languages for use in multiple apps such as screen readers, message readers, memory-constrained devices (PDAs, mobile devices), etc. His work aimed to develop interactive interfaces to learn the language of Assamese and Manipuri, popularize the languages, and help understand their grammatical structure. Indrajit holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Computer Engineering from IIIT, a Master's degree in Information Technology from Tezpur University, and a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science from Gauhati University and Girijananda Choudhury Group of Institutes.
