Ishan Kanade is a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer with a strong background in building, running, and maintaining scalable SaaS products using Ruby and Go. With over 6 years of relevant experience, Ishan has a proven track record of delivering high-quality solutions that meet business needs. Currently, he works as a Senior Software Engineer 2 at ChartMogul, where he plans, researches, and coordinates new features for the Analytics team. He is responsible for setting the direction at the project level and influencing decision-making, providing technical advice, and weighing in on architectural decisions that impact the rest of engineering and/or company at large. His end-to-end understanding of AWS & Integrations and how each of these areas affects and interacts with the Analytics part of the ChartMogul application has been invaluable to the company. Ishan's past experience includes working as a Senior Software Engineer 1 (DevOps) at ChartMogul, where he led migration efforts from DigitalOcean to AWS of the entire ChartMogul infrastructure. He upgraded multiple PostgreSQL Databases from 9.x to 13.x one major version at a time, containerized all services from Rails monolith to Golang and Rust based micro-services, and set up Kubernetes clusters in AWS along with CI/CD pipelines from scratch using AWS CodeBuild. He also migrated multiple instances with different versions of Postgres databases with streaming replication to AWS RDS, while handling edge cases like partitioned tables. Ishan enabled monitoring services like Datadog for observability of the cluster and data stores and set up real-time secrets injection for containers from AWS Parameter Stores. Ishan has also worked as a Software Engineer - Integrations (Remote) at ChartMogul, where he wrote and maintained integrations with 3rd party billing systems like Stripe, Recurly, Chargebee, Braintree, etc. He performed ETL for that data and primarily used Ruby/Rails and Golang/Gin along with PostgreSQL as a data store and Redis for the cache. He handled bugfixing in a distributed environment (micro-services) and webhooks handling (in millions of payloads per day), added new features to client libraries, and performed releases for these libraries on package repositories like Rubygems, Npm, etc. Ishan used Terraform, Salt, AWS, Kubernetes for managing infra.
