Jack Edgar is an incoming Software Engineer at Marshall Wace, one of the world's largest hedge funds. He is a BEng (Hons) graduate in Computer Science from the University of Edinburgh and has Level 2 & Level 3 education from The Studio Liverpool. Jack is particularly interested in systems-based computer science topics and has relevant experience of 1.21 years. Jack has a diverse background, having worked as a Full-Stack Engineer in the investment banking division of JPMorgan Chase & Co. and as a Tradercraft - Algorithmic Trading Trainee at Optiver. At JPMorgan, he engineered a dynamic, generic, interactive visualiser for data relating to different financial instruments and transactions, which was deployed into production. He seamlessly integrated his project into an existing system, increasing the efficiency of use for bankers and traders. Jack's project was completed far ahead of schedule, allowing him to extend it with additional features. He also developed and conducted a presentation to educate his team on a new technology, which was requested by and shared with directors and senior architects, potentially resulting in a large impact in terms of adoption. At Optiver, Jack was selected from a large pool of applicants to participate in the Tradercraft - Algorithmic Trading Trainee programme. He learned about many aspects of trading, market making, and advanced option theory (Black-Scholes Model, Greeks etc). This knowledge was then applied to develop an efficient trading algorithm in Python, using their in-house AWS platform 'Optibook'. Jack is currently a Software Engineer (Incoming) at Marshall Wace, where he is part of a rotational programme across a multitude of teams, including Cyber, Data Engineering, Platform Engineering, Production Engineering, Software Engineering, and User Experience. His tech stack includes Software Engineer, Data Engineering, AWS, and Python.
