James Bates is the Head of Recruitment at Hyper Anna, a data analytics platform that uses AI to provide tailored insights to businesses within seconds. With over 22 years of relevant experience, James leads the hiring process for all of Hyper Anna's APAC offices, including technical and non-technical roles. He is also responsible for designing and delivering the company's ongoing People and Culture strategies, ensuring that Hyper Anna is a place where everyone can bring their best selves to work. Prior to joining Hyper Anna, James volunteered as a mentor at General Assembly Sydney and Startmate. He also has a strong educational background, having completed an HBX Executive Education program at Harvard Business School in 2017 and earning his A-Levels in English Literature, Economics & Politics, European History, and General Studies from Newcastle-under-Lyme High School in 1995. Hyper Anna caught the attention of the Australian startup industry when it raised $17 million in funding and won multiple awards in 2017 and 2018, including being named Gartner's 'Cool AI Vendor' and a Deloitte Tech 'Fast 50' Rising Star. Since launching in 2016, the company has tripled its headcount, expanded its operations to Melbourne, Hong Kong, and Singapore, and landed some of the world's most prestigious enterprise brands as customers.
