James Horton is a Senior Solutions Consultant with over 20 years of experience in Information Technology. He specializes in focusing on the internal customer and bringing together various technologies internal to the company and intermixing with external Cloud and on-premise systems to engineer solutions. James has become competent with network engineering and other modern systems like Docker and is currently learning Kubernetes. He has designed solutions to run in Azure, Google Cloud, and some in AWS, too. As a Senior Solutions Consultant at layer5, James is using Meshery to help organizations run service meshes. The Layer5 community is warm and welcoming, and James invites others to join them. He is responsible for the design and deployment of service mesh software for Kubernetes, Docker, and Cloud Native environments running microservices on Istio, Envoy, Consul, Linkerd, Network Service Mesh. Prior to joining layer5, James worked as a Consultant at Horton Consulting, where he provided freelance consulting services to startups and Fortune 2,000s. He also worked as a Senior Solutions Architect at Hewlett Packard, where he designed solutions with Greenlake and third-party infrastructure in different public clouds and pushed customers to public marketplace and solutions design. James holds a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology from the University of California, Los Angeles, and an Associate's degree in General Studies from San Diego State University. His tech stack includes Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Microservices, Azure, Senior Software Engineer, and infra.
