He is currently serving as the Co-Founder of Medal Fitness, where he is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of software solutions that help people lead healthier lives. Prior to this, James has worked with some of the top companies in the industry, including Instagram and LinkedIn, where he held the position of Senior Software Engineer. At both these companies, he was a part of the Content Team and worked extensively with Java, Kafka, Hadoop, Pig, and Search Integration. He also led the search infrastructure integration into features specific to Zephyr, the Chinese version of the flagship LinkedIn application. One of the most impressive aspects of James's career is his ability to learn new languages and adapt to new cultures. As the only non-Chinese resident in the LinkedIn China office, he independently learned Mandarin Chinese from strictly basic communication to working proficiency over 1.5 years. James holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computational and Applied Mathematics from the University of California, Los Angeles, which he completed in 2015.
