Jason Brown is a highly skilled software engineer with over 24 years of relevant experience in database development, distributed systems, Java, web services, and relational and non-relational database design. He is currently working as a Staff Engineer at Stripe, a leading technology company that offers payment processing solutions to businesses of all sizes. Previously, Jason worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Netflix, where he was the first adopter of Cassandra for live production use. He is now a committer and PMC member to the Apache Cassandra itself as well as related, internal tooling. Jason is also a maintainer and contributor to open source projects such as Priam. During his time at Netflix, Jason implemented multiple highly scalable internal services in EC2, including an A/B testing service. Before joining Netflix, Jason spent several years in the mobile industry developing content management systems and m-commerce applications. He also worked as an e-commerce architect, designing and supporting a multi-million dollar, high-profile sports site, Major League Baseball. Jason is a recognized expert in his field and has spoken at numerous industry events, including QCon Tokyo, QCon Beijing, and the Cassandra Summit. He is also a member of the Silicon Valley Cloud Computing Meetup, the San Francisco Cassandra User Group, and the Silicon Valley NoSQL Meetup. Jason's technical skills include Apache Cassandra, distributed systems, Java, architecture, EC2 cloud, high availability, scalability, HTTP, microservices, REST, Spring, SQL and PL/SQL, and database design. He is a highly motivated and results-driven individual who is passionate about delivering high-quality software solutions that meet the needs of his clients.
