Jason Brown is a Senior Software Engineer at Blend with over 10 years of relevant experience. He is skilled in various programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Node, React, React Native, Hasura, Postgres, and GraphQL. He enjoys building web and mobile applications and is constantly exploring new technologies to make an impact on developers and customers using their products. Jason's ultimate goal is to provide as much value as he can, and developing is just one of the tools in his tool chest. He also volunteers his time teaching and mentoring, as well as contributing to open source projects online and projects that help the community. This requires a deep understanding of how to communicate and adapt his communication style to varying scenarios. At Blend, Jason has refactored legacy Angular into React, refactored thousands of tests from Enzyme to RTL, and helped set up new patterns around modern data loading with React Query and forms with react-hook-form. He has also optimized their build system and decreased bundle sizes 10x. Additionally, he built a configurable system to integrate existing permissions to enable customers to manage their configurations, including an entirely new admin interface. In the past, Jason has worked with companies such as Brave Care and Streem, Inc. At Brave Care, he built internal and external facing HIPAA compliant software from scratch, including apps using React, Next.js, TypeScript, React Native, GraphQL, Hasura, and various other modern technologies. At Streem, Inc., he worked with React, React Native, Swift, and Java to build out the future of on-demand expertise utilizing Augmented Reality. Jason holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Entrepreneurship from Oregon State University.
