Jason Divock
Frontend Engineer
About
Jason Divock is an experienced engineer with a career spanning almost two decades. He is currently employed by Stripe as an Engineer. Prior to this, he worked as a Software Engineer at Uber and a Senior Software Engineer at Box. At Uber, Jason was responsible for building a highly performant end-to-end planning system for the company's offices, reducing year-end financial planning time from 26 weeks to 12. He also built a javascript transformation library to convert multidimensional payloads from the reporting back-end to more view-driven result sets, reducing a major hotspot for bugs across all web applications that communicated with TM1. In addition, he built bespoke UI components shared across Uber's Business Intelligence organization, such as editable tables used to handle headcount additions, transfers, and terminations. He also took on Product Lead roles to help meet stakeholder needs and requests. Jason is currently building a financial metadata store leveraging MySQL, Go, and Thrift that will allow Stripe's finance team to distribute their department, location, and line of business hierarchies to other micro-services within the organization. He mentored multiple junior devs on the project and helped them come up to speed on proper coding and testing practices within their team, ensuring they always maintain a high standard of excellence. At Box, Jason acted as Front-End lead on the administrative console re-write in ReactJS. He headed major architectural decisions, drove best practices, and mentored junior devs along the way. He co-authored the internal React component library to assist with getting best practices off the ground and lay a foundation of reusable components that conform to Box's design language. He resolved a major source of tech debt by rewriting the asset pipeline build process from its unowned PHP codebase to NodeJS and restructured it to support their separate deployment work. Jason also set up an internal presentation forum for developers to show off their side projects and interests within Box in an informal setting, allowing Boxers to share knowledge across disciplines. He contributed to their in-house OSS project t3js, allowing for multiple build targets and improving error handling and tracking within the framework. Jason holds a BS in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, College Park, where he graduated in 2003. He also graduated from John P. Stevens High School in 1999. Jason's tech stack includes Software Engineering, Frontend, testing, NodeJS, ReactJS, Javascript, MySQL, Redux, Microservices, UI, Backend, Web, and PHP.
