About
Jason Stanley is a highly skilled graduate student at Texas A&M University, with a background in Computational Fluid Mechanics, Numerical Analysis/Methods, and Parallel Computing. He possesses expertise in programming languages such as C, C++, Python, Fortran, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and SQL, and has experience in parallel programming using OpenMP and CUDA with C++. Jason is also well-versed in software and tools such as MATLAB, Computational Fluid Dynamics - STAR-CCM+, and OpenFOAM, Finite Element Analysis - Ansys, CAD - Solidworks, and Rhino, LaTeX, Git, and MS Office. Currently pursuing his Master of Science degree in Ocean Engineering, Jason is conducting research on Numerical Analysis, Optimization - Nonlinear & Convex problems, Non-negative Least Squares algorithms, and Parallel Computing. He is working on his thesis titled "Analysis of Nonnegative Least Squares algorithms," under the guidance of Dr. Freddie Witherden. Jason has conducted literature surveys and implemented several Nonnegative Least Squares algorithms, including the Lawson and Hanson, FNNLS, Gradient Descent, Quasi-Newton, and Random Projections. He has also designed an algorithm with Random Projections method using Quasi-Newton method for solving the subproblem. He has tested the algorithm for various randomly generated matrices using MATLAB and compared the computational time, residual error with MATLAB's lsqnonneg function. Jason has achieved a speedup of around 10 for the designed algorithm with a maximum relative error of 3.25%. Jason has previously worked as an intern at Cochin Shipyard Limited, where he gained technical skills and knowledge in the operation of a Shipyard through professionals. He has also worked as an Industrial Trainee at Tamilnadu Petroproducts Ltd., where he learned about the functioning of different types of Engines that were used in powering up Ships. Jason has a Bachelor of Technology degree from IIT Madras and completed his schooling in Computer Science from Maharishi Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School. He possesses relevant experience of 0.43 years and is skilled in SQL, Research Scientist, Python, and Javascript.
