Jaspreet Makkar is an entrepreneurial engineer with a passion for product and data. He started building and hacking his own toys from old electronics at the age of 12 and made his first sale at 15. At 17, he started his first business. Over the last 7 years, he has supported multiple industries, CXOs, and thought leaders in incubating and implementing technology solutions. Jaspreet is most comfortable engaging with the market, identifying opportunities, and converting them into products that customers are happy to pay for. Jaspreet is the Founder of visualAI, India’s largest solar O&M analytics company, where he has helped 2.5GW+ of assets become more efficient and sustainable using drones and sensor-based analytics. visualAI’s flagship product, visualAI pvScan, is an Image Processing and Deep Learning software that analyses tens of thousands of drone thermal images and generates an automated report of panels with hotspots. The company is now integrating a large number of unstructured data sources to form a single decision pipeline for operating and maintaining distributed energy (solar, wind) assets. Their algorithms have been ground-tested and proven to increase production. visualAI works with top Solar Asset Owners, EPC/O&M contractors, and Lenders that control 80% of the Indian solar market. In the last two quarters, they have successfully delivered projects in Italy, US, and Vietnam. Prior to visualAI, Jaspreet founded WeDoSky, one of the first companies in India to use drones for commercial applications. Investment was made by marquee investors from Mumbai Angels after two years of profitable bootstrapped operations. WeDoSky delivered 400+ property surveys in 20+ cities in the first 9 months of their operations, partnered with the largest mining federation in India to promote the usage of high-accuracy drone surveys pan-India, built relationships and transformed gaps in operations into commercial proposals for top mining companies in India, and partnered with PwC to promote the usage of data and drones in the BFSI sector. WeDoSky also enabled Tata AIG to quantitatively estimate the losses due to Vardha cyclone, a landmark case much discussed by the entire Insurance industry for the unique usage of drones for claim management.
