Jay Gholap is an experienced Data Engineer with a strong engineering and scientific background. He has a demonstrated history of working in the health care informatics and research industry. Currently, he is serving as a Senior Data Engineer at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, where he is responsible for building EPIC EMR based analytic data marts and extracts for facilitating research in healthcare. He is also involved in designing, architecting, and implementing scalable data warehouse and pipelines that handle very large datasets. Additionally, Jay provides data science and analytics-based solutions for complex problems mainly associated with record linkages across heterogeneous data sources. He is also responsible for designing, developing, and tuning ETL and data integration solutions using ETL tools, scripting, and database-driven programming. Jay has also established cloud data engineering (AWS) practices and implemented data-driven solutions for research informatics projects. Previously, Jay worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Department of Computer Science, University of Maryland Baltimore County, where he conducted research and development in the area of data mining/machine learning and big data analytics. He was responsible for building prototypes of novel data mining techniques for health informatics. He has also authored many scholarly research papers and posters in IEEE International workshops and conferences. Jay has conducted inter-disciplinary research by collaborating with researchers from multiple universities in the United States. He has also conducted responsible research in compliance with Institutional Review Board (IRB). Jay has also worked as an Associate Consultant at Third I, where he was responsible for developing extract-transform-load (ETL)/data integration processes & SQL scripts in the enterprise data warehouse. He was also involved in performance tuning, refactoring, auditing of sources, targets & mappings using Talend Enterprise Data Integration. Additionally, he was responsible for maintenance, functional testing & data validation of DWH/BI applications. He has also trained junior resources on Talend data integration studio and built test-automation utilities in Java for data validation. Jay holds a Master's Degree in Information Systems from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Engineering from the College of Engineering Pune.
