Jay Maru is a graduate student pursuing a master's degree in Information Management with a specialization in Data Science at Syracuse University. With extensive experience in working with compelling datasets, creating and maintaining models with analytical tools such as Python, R, SQL, and Tableau, Jay is more inclined towards data analytics. He is proficient in data integration from multiple sources, data cleaning, mining, and visualizing to derive hidden insights and modeling for predictive capabilities. Jay's curriculum has significantly contributed to his knowledge of IT and organizational leadership/management through various courses such as Database Management Concepts, PowerApps, Azure Data Studio, and R programming. He has also gained insight into management through coursework in Management Policies & Principles. Jay's first management experience was being the head of a traditional event for three consecutive years and then being the chairperson for a couple of years. He has been part of several nonprofit organizations where he has been given an opportunity to lead, honing his soft skills like leadership, team management, and developing his ability to think out of the box. Jay's key competencies include leadership and management, data analytics, predictive analysis, data visualization, and business strategy. He is proficient in programming languages such as R and Python (Pandas, NumPy, Seaborn, Scikit-learn), databases like MySQL, data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, and Excel, and statistical analysis techniques such as classification, regression, descriptive analysis, hypothesis testing, confidence & prediction intervals, error metrics & random sampling. Jay also possesses other skills like Docker Desktop, Visual Studio Code, ETL (Alteryx), Jira, Agile Methodologies, SDLC, and SharePoint. Currently, Jay works as a Graduate Faculty Research Assistant and Data Analyst at Syracuse University School of Information Studies. In the past, he has worked as a Business Analyst and Data Analyst at Larsen & Toubro Infotech.
