Jayant Shekhar is a Senior Software Engineer at Microsoft with over 11 years of experience in Device Drivers, Linux Kernel Internals, and Embedded Systems Software Design and Development. He specializes in the development of Display Stack Software for Linux/Android/QNX and has extensive experience in the development and commercialization of display software stack on Qualcomm Snapdragon platforms for Mobile, IOT, and wearables across tiers and Samsung Exynos virtualized platforms for the automotive domain. Jayant is proficient in C & C++ Programming skills, Object-Oriented Design, Data structures & Algorithms, Operating Systems Internals, and Computer Architecture. He has worked on Display Processing/Composition Engine Features, Display Kernel Drivers based on Linux Framebuffer (FB), Direct Rendering Manager (DRM/KMS), and Khronos Open WF framework, Android Hardware Composer, Android SurfaceFlinger, and QNX Screen. He is familiar with MIPI DSI, DP, Bridge display interface protocols. Jayant has contributed to Android Display Kernel via CodeAurora, which is currently used across billions of devices. He has experience working on end-to-end software development cycles for many Snapdragon platforms and has exposure to upstreaming Qualcomm DPU kernel changes. He is also experienced in board bring-ups, design and implementation of display features, power and performance features, handled Kernel upgrades, Android upgrades, Pre-silicon bring up on HW emulators, Android bootloader (UEFI/LK), debugged complex critical commercialization system-wide issues. During his tenure in Qualcomm, Jayant has authored/co-authored 10 US patents in display subsystem, 7 of which have been granted till date. He enjoys mentoring, ramping up, and guiding new individuals in the team. In his free time, he enjoys solving algorithmic problems, exploring new gadgets, and reading about new technologies. Currently, Jayant is working as a Senior IC on Display Software Stack for Microsoft Surface Android-based devices. This involves SurfaceFlinger Framework, Hardware Composer (HWC), Display Manager, libDRM, DRM-KMS based Display (DPU) Kernel Driver & Display Panel Driver. Prior to Microsoft, he has worked at Samsung as Display Software Lead Developer for Samsung Exynos Auto chipsets (v9 & 8890) on virtualized QNX-Linux-Android and at Qualcomm as Lead Engineer, Senior | AP-Tech QIPL Linux Display SW Dev.
