Jenna Zeigen is a Staff Software Engineer at Slack, where she currently works on the Client Performance team. With over 10 years of relevant experience, Jenna has previously held senior software engineer and software engineer positions at Slack as well. Before joining Slack, Jenna managed a team of engineers at DigitalOcean, where she was responsible for building and improving the engineering team and ensuring the happiness and productivity of her team members. She is passionate about the JavaScript community and is an active member of the community. Jenna organizes BrooklynJS, a popular meetup in NYC, and EmpireJS, a yearly JavaScript conference in NYC. She also enjoys speaking at conferences. At Slack, Jenna has been a technical lead on the Search Experience team, where she built the frontend infrastructure that drives autocompletes across Slack, including the Quickswitcher, DM browser, @-mentioning, and the emoji picker. She also led the design of a machine-learning backed system for filtering and sorting client-side. Jenna also led the project that unified the old Quickswitcher with the Search UI. Jenna holds a Sc.B in Cognitive Science from Brown University. Her tech stack includes software engineering, senior software engineering, JavaScript, search, frontend, UI, and infrastructure. Jenna is a highly skilled and experienced engineer with a passion for building and improving teams and communities.
