Jeremy Philemon is an Engineer and Designer with a background in computer science. He is currently volunteering at covid19india.org, where he helps maintain an open-source project that tracks the impact of COVID-19 in India. By aggregating and visualizing city/district granular data, he has enabled over 600 research publications and served 133 million users in India within a total operating budget of $12. He has also impacted government/medical authorities around the country to carry out critical policy-making decisions. Prior to his current role, Jeremy worked as a Product Design Intern at Airports Authority of India, where he collaborated on the development of a record maintenance and rostering tool for air traffic controllers. He also identified and addressed the problem of skill fading in the industry by designing an efficient dynamic constraint optimization model that builds rosters based on a controller's familiarity with ATC units and multiple safety assessments. He provided creative direction and ensured user accessibility while building the design system and helped controllers adopt the new tool upon completion. Jeremy is also a Co-Founder of uniqna, an online community-driven forum for university students in India to come together and discuss academia and student life in one convenient place. He supervised the initial commits and core development of the startup and collaborated with developers through issue/feature tracking and pull requests on GitHub to meet deliverables. He enforced strict styling guidelines and coding practices throughout development using coveralls.io and custom unit tests to ensure the quality of the codebase. He designed and iteratively refactored the frontend to deliver appropriate UI/UX through user feedback/interviews and optimized page loads by pipelining static files to obtain quicker response times under lower network speeds. He also maintained infrastructure transfers between AWS and Google Cloud Platform. Jeremy holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Binghamton University and a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from Vellore Institute of Technology. He is experienced in product design, research, AWS, UI, frontend, and infra.
