Jiawen (Ivy) Zhang is a highly motivated and collaborative Machine Learning Engineer at Apple, with a keen interest in the intersection of machine learning (NLP/CV), on-device development, and user experience. She is currently working on Research and Development for Siri, Spotlight, and Visual Search, with a focus on developing innovative features and solutions to enhance the user experience. With 2.69 years of relevant experience, Jiawen has a proven track record of success in the field of AI/ML. She previously worked as an AI/ML Software Engineer as part of Apple's rotational program, where she worked on cool features of Siri. As a Software Engineer Intern on the CoreMotion team, Jiawen built a web app from scratch using Flask to support 100+ data scientists, developers, and QA testers to speed up and better streamline replays (simulation of motion algorithms). She also implemented replay request tracking and validation systems with PostgreSQL, designed use cases of the service with 10+ stakeholders through cross-functional communication, and documented findings for people to better understand the whole story about replays. Jiawen also designed a “Remote Airdrop” feature, which successfully qualified for Intern iContest Finale (Top 10) from 327 participating interns, and presented their vision to 300+ Apple employees from diverse backgrounds. Jiawen holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a Minor in Mathematics and Statistics from Haverford College, where she graduated in 2020. She also spent a year as an Undergraduate Visiting Student at Columbia University, focusing on Computer Science and Statistics. Prior to that, she completed her High School Diploma at Shenzhen Middle School and participated in a Non-Degree Exchange Program in Germany at Orlatal Gymnasium. Jiawen is proficient in a variety of tech stacks, including ML, AI, NLP, Software Engineer, Research Scientist, Search, Computer Vision, qa, Flask, and Web. She is a problem-solver at heart and is always looking for new and innovative ways to apply her skills and experience to create value for her team and customers.
