Jigar Shah is an experienced Engineering Manager at GoJek with a passion for working on distributed systems at scale. Throughout his journey as an Engineer, he has worked with a variety of technologies including Golang, Clojure, Ruby, Java, Postgres, Mongo, Elastic Search, Redis, Memcached, Kafka, Chef, Kubernetes, React.js, Vue.js, and HaProxy. Currently, Jigar is a Lead Product Engineer at GoJek, where he works in the Mobility product handling around 2 million drivers and 5 million orders daily. He has actively participated in sprint planning, product decisions, on-call cycle, mentorship of junior engineers, code reviews, and interviews as part of Org building. Jigar has been consistently among the top performers in the organization and has worked on many interesting projects and features. Some of the notable features that Jigar has worked on include Canned Messages, Tipping Widget, Live Tracking and ETA, and Safety Toolkit. These features have had a significant impact on the business, increasing chat system usage by 32%, increasing the average tip amount by 100%, and saving GoJek XM$ by using in-house-built Live-tracking. Before joining GoJek, Jigar worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Alef Mobitech and a Software Design Engineer III at Sokrati. At Sokrati, he was involved in architecting the design of the system and future scalability. He also gave a small talk in Kafka Pune meetup group regarding this. Jigar holds a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Computer Science and Engg from Walchand College of Engineering (a govt. aided autonomous institute), Sangli-M.S. He is a Software Engineer with 7.95 years of relevant experience and has a strong technical background in Javascript, Java, Kafka, Redis, Postgres, Kubernetes, MongoDB, Elastic Search, DevOps, Search, RabbitMQ, and MySQL.
