Jim Popadak is an experienced Software Engineer with over 13 years of experience in the computer software industry. He is skilled in Go, C++, JVM languages (Scala, Java, Kotlin), Databases (MSSQL, Oracle, MySQL), and C# / .NET Core. He has a Bachelors of Science focused in Computer Science from Cleveland State University. Currently, Jim is working as a Senior Software Engineer - L5 at WeWork. He has built multiple internal libraries in Go to help facilitate quick service creation and standardized practices around Golang and Kubernetes. Each library focuses on a specific problem they have faced. He has designed and built modules for easy and quick set up and managing of Central Configurations, Relational DBs, NoSQL DBs, Authn/Authz OAuth/JWT, gRPC & HTTP servers, and managing of Kafka Topics with Schema Registry logic included. Jim has also created libraries around Observability to keep these new services running in Production. These libraries include Structured JSON Logging (for Kibana), Metrics (using Prometheus), Distributed Tracing (using Jaeger). He has updated and maintained over 20 services in a team of six engineers by adhering to their strict Go standards. In the past, Jim has worked as a Software Engineer - L3 & L4 at WeWork, where he worked on the Space Explorer team. Their goal was to digitize representation of the entire We Company portfolio of physical space and serve it for different business entities. He has also worked as a Senior Software Engineer (Back End) L3 at Ygrene Energy Fund, where he worked mostly in Scala to expand their microservice architecture with Scalantra.
